Abstract

PT. KTC is a coal mining company in Kutai Timur Regency, East Kalimantan
Province. To achieve production targets, the company undertakes machine
repairs and maintenance to ensure that the production process runs safely and
efficiently. PT. KTC faces the problem of damage to the bearing housing on the
impact roller conveyor. Therefore, it is necessary to design a new bearing
housing to address this issue. The purpose of the study is to determine the
strength of the material, particularly the factor of safety (FOS) and the strength
of bolt connections. The researcher uses a quantitative approach method with
data collected in the form of measurements, including both the loads that occur
and the object's dimensions. Based on the FOS calculations, the FOS values
before and after the design are 0.691 and 1.843, respectively. The FOS
calculation results before the design show an unsafe value, below the safety
factor standard based on Mott's theory. Conversely, the FOS calculation results
after the design show a safe value, as it is above the safety factor standard
based on Mott's theory. Additionally, the calculation of the bolt connection after
the design shows an actual shear stress value of 55.992 N/mm². This value
indicates that the bolt connection does not experience damage, as it does not
exceed the allowable shear stress of 90.9 N/mm²
